Introduces New Aqueous Pigment Dispersion Product Line for the Region

PARSIPPANY, N.J., USA – August 27, 2013 – Sun Chemical Performance Pigments reinforced its commitment to customers in South America with the opening of its new state-of-the-art pigment dispersions manufacturing facility and on-site technical service labs in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Outfitted with customized manufacturing equipment, the Rio de Janeiro plant was developed to create aqueous pigment dispersions that meet the specific needs of the region.

With the opening of the facility, Sun Chemical also introduced its new Aquadisperse family of waterborne pigment dispersions for the deco coatings market.

“At Sun Chemical, we have made a major investment to support the growth in the South American region,” said Myron Petruch, President, Sun Chemical Performance Pigments. “By regionally manufacturing our Aquadisperse pigment dispersion line, we are increasing service and value to our customers in the area. The site will support future development of dispersions that meet the specific needs of the region.”

Designed for in-plant tinting of emulsion paints and ideal for low-odor architectural coatings, Aquadisperse pigment dispersions provide extra strength and value that customers find difficult to achieve on their own, and are formulated to be heavy metal-, APEO- and VOC-free. The well balanced dispersant combination ensures broad compatibility and easy incorporation into many other applications. They also offer high physical and color stability, good wet rub resistance, meet stringent specifications and are intermixable and pourable/pumpable.

The Aquadisperse family of waterborne dispersions features a range of 10 popular pigments ranging from Yellow 3, Yellow 74 and Yellow 42 to Orange 5, Red 112, Red 122, Blue 15:1, Green 7 and Black 7. Each are formulated specifically for the requirements in the South American market.

Manufactured to Sun Chemical’s exacting global standards, the Aquadisperse product line produced in Rio de Janeiro will utilize the same modern equipment used at Sun Chemical’s other locations.

With the opening of the Rio de Janeiro plant, Sun Chemical Performance Pigments is now a global producer of aqueous dispersions on three continents.
