Iranians at a research center in the central city of Isfahan have made a water-proof product for protecting construction material.
Water-Resistant Adhesive (WRA) is a non-poisonous material designed and built through nanotechnology, ISNA wrote.
After pouring the WRA on the material surface concurrent with water evaporation, there is a reaction between the nano-material of the formulation and air carbon dioxide that creates a polymeric water-evading network not dissolved in the water.
The surface would be water-evasive without any change in color.
The non-toxic product is antifungal and anti-algae, especially in rainy and humid areas, prevents frost, construction collapse, anti-ultraviolet rays and does not inflict any environment pollution. It can be used for 5-15 years.
The product can be used in the building frontage, including brick, cement, plaster and concrete. For structural adhesives that resist exposure to water, humidity and steam, the adhesive offers a complete line of epoxies, silicones, polyurethanes, polysulfides and UV curable adhesives. Many specific epoxy grades are formulated to resist liquid and vapor exposure in both tap and salt water without degradation of bond strength, even at elevated temperatures. Additionally, they are available for use in a range of viscosities and hardness, cure speeds and colors.
