China's forestry industry one of the largest in the world

The gross output value of China's forestry industry has been keeping upward at a speed of more than 10 percent annually on average in recent years. This trend will remain for a long period to follow. The production of artificial boards, furniture and rosin is the largest in the world.

The boom of the forestry industry is driven by the fast development of relevant sectors including artificial board manufacturing, bamboo processing, forestry chemical, forest traveling, flowers cultivating and economic forests growing. In 2003, China's forestry industry generated about 586 billion yuan worth of output, soaring 26.4 percent over 2002.

A line of forestry products are leading the world in production. In 2003, about 45.5 million cube meters of artificial board, more than 165 million pieces of furniture, and 443.3 thousand tons of rosin products were made in China.

China turned out 43 million and consumed more than 48 million tons of paper and paper board, making the country the second producer and consumer.

The output of turpentine, lac and wooden floor in China also nudged into the top three in the world.
