China is the biggest gum rosin producer and exporter in the world, the total output of gum rosin is estimated to reach more than 800 thousand tons and the export volume exceed 340 thousand tons in 2006, trade volume account for 70% in international market. Guangxi province, where locates in the south of China, is the biggest gum rosin producing province in China, both annual output and export volume account for half of the national output and export volume. According to statistic from local Customs administration, Guangxi has exported 98 thousand tons gum rosin and earned 110 million USD, the export value increased by 23.7% against same period of last year.
Expert in the industry said although Guangxi is the biggest gum rosin producer, but most producers are small and mainly engage in raw material production, only few producers involve in gum rosin deep processing industry. They suggest that the local government should arrange certain preferential policy for the development of gum rosin derivatives industry in Guangxi province.
