Yuan province is one of the main gum rosin producing area in China, at present, most pine tree in the province for tapping crude pine gum is Pinus yunnanensis and Pinus kesiya. Pinus elliottii is one of good pine species both for wood and crud pine gum tapping; it mostly planted in Guangdong province, Guangxi province and Jiangxi province.
A seminar for introduction experimentation Pinus elliottii to Yunan province was hold by provincial forest seedling office in Kuning, the capital of Yunan province. The original seed of Pinus elliottii come from Guangdong Pinus elliottii plantation, the introduction experimentation will hold in ten counties in Yunan province and last to 2010, the total experimentation acreage is 200 Mu (13.3 hektare).
