Highway officials are hoping that an experimental type of adhesive will help road reflectors stay in place.
A crew placed reflectors on La. Highway 28 East in Pineville on Tuesday using a new type of adhesive. Instead of using epoxy, the crew used a bituminous polymer adhesive, according to Matt Frazier, crew foreman.

Pineville Police officers managed traffic in the area of the work.

Frazier said getting reflectors to stay on a high-traffic highway is a problem. He noted that a contractor recently put some reflectors on an area highway, and "within two weeks there wasnt a button left on the road."

Highway officials will monitor the reflectors being put down with the polymer adhesive to see how that adhesive performs.

The polymer adhesive will be used for reflectors to be placed on other highways, including La. Highway 107 in Pineville and MacArthur Drive in Alexandria.
