Resin distributor Chase Plastics Services Inc. has added two additional warehousing sites in Mexico in the last year.
Clarkston, Mich.-based Chase has been selling into Mexico for 15 years and started warehousing from Querétaro in mid-2016.
Since then, the firm, which primarily handles engineering resins, has begun using warehouses in Monterrey and Juárez as well.
"People are recognizing our name, and that's allowing us to get more in-depth with customers," said Alan Arduini, vice president of sales, at Plastimagen. "We can listen to their need and match materials up."
Chase's line card in Mexico is similar to what it sells in the United States, Vice President Adam Paulson added. Most of its sales in Mexico are into the automotive market, he said, with some growth also in appliances and electrical/electronic. Top-selling materials for Chase in Mexico include nylon, acetal and polycarbonate.
In Mexico, Chase currently has five sales reps. The firm is looking to add a rep in Mexico City.
Chase has averaged 20 percent annual sales growth in Mexico for the last five years. Its Mexican sales are a combination of extended business from U.S. customers and from new customers as well, according to Arduini.
Chase was founded in 1992 and now distributes more than 6,400 grades of resins and compounds from more than 30 suppliers. In 2016, the firm opened a new warehouse in South Bend, Ind., and added a customer service center in Clarkston.
