DHURKOT (Gulmi): The pine trees here are drying out with rampant collection of pine resin.
The green trees in the local community forests are getting drier with different companies extracting resin against the stated standards. The trend has posed threat to the green forests.
Contractors of different companies have been collecting pine resin in the community forests in the district by financially alluring the forest users groups and technicians.
Locals have complained that the rampant collection of resin is taking place in Arkhale, Paralmi, Hastichaur, Nayagaun, Pipaldhara, Hadhade, Sirseni, Wagla, Simichaur, harachaur, Jaisithok, Badagaun and Muskot community forests.
The Durga Resin and Turpentine Industries Company, Jhapa has been collecting the semisolid substances from pine trees in Gulmi district.
