France's Technip wins Saudi petrochemical plant contract

French engineering company Technip has been awarded an important contract to design and build a synthetic rubber plant for the Al-Jubail Petrochemical Company, Technip announced Monday.
Al-Jubail, which is a joint venture between Saudi SABIC and EXXON Chemical Arabia, intends to produce about 110,000 tons annually of the high-quality Halobutyl synthetic, a statement said.
The plant is to be built in the Al-Jubail locality and is part of the Saudi Elastomers Programme undertaken by the Saudi venture.
Technip said that the contact, whose value was not announced, will be managed from its regional office in the UAE and product from the plant would be used on local and regional markets in Asia. (end) jk.rk KUNA 231224 Jul 12NNNN
