Bridgestone plans to invest $20 million in a new facility in Kaiping, Guangdong Province of China.
The facility will manufacture, process, and sell foamed rubber, urethane, and precision electronic components, and will employ about 400 workers. Bridgestone (Kaiping) Diversified Products, as it will be named, will begin production in the second half of 2013, supporting Bridgestone’s supply position and meet customer demand for foamed rubber, urethane, and precision electronic component products.
“The aim of the move is to meet growing global demand for synthetic rubber used in tyres” Bridgestone said.
Bridgestone Corporation is known as the world’s largest tire and rubber company. Besides tires it manufactures a broad range of diversified products, which include industrial rubber and chemical products and sporting goods, sold in over 150 countries worldwide. These products are: golf balls and bicycles, polyurethane foam for industrial applications, and adhesive film for the solar industry. Bridgestone operates some 180 manufacturing plants in 25 countries and sells its products worldwide.
