Arizona Chemical Announces Major Adhesives Capacity Expansion To Support Global Growth Strategy

Arizona Chemical, a world leader of bio-refined products, plans to add significant capacity to its adhesives product lines to support the company’s global growth strategy. The expansion, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2012, will include the addition of a new reactor and finishing line at the company’s Savannah, Ga., plant to produce rosin esters to supply the global adhesives market. “The plans we have for the growth of our global adhesives business are ambitious,” explained Juhani Tuovinen, Vice President-Global Commercial. “Customers continue to be concerned about availability of raw materials and innovative solutions that enable them to address their customers’ needs. This investment demonstrates our commitment to support our customers’ growth needs. It is one part of our overall strategy to support the adhesives market with not only assets but also new products and the people necessary to deliver the value our customers seek” Arizona Chemical’s Savannah complex includes one of the largest rosin ester manufacturing sites in the world, and is home to Arizona Chemical’s U.S. Technology Center. “This site was chosen for our expansion plans because of the synergy we have with the extensive experience in adhesives technology and production in Savannah today.” In addition to the capacity expansion, Arizona Chemical is also focused on staffing the global adhesives business to deliver new innovations to the market and better serve emerging regions, such as Asia. “Developing the people capabilities is as important as the capacity expansions in delivering our business objectives,” Tuovinen said.
