The Siegwerk Group has won the “Glocal Enterprise Award 2010“, conferred by the bank WestLB for successful business management. The word “glocal” is made up of the elements “global” and “local” – simultaneously highlighting the close ties between mid-size companies and their domestic markets, and
alignment with the global economy.

“Both aspects apply to Siegwerk in an excellent way,” said jury chairman Professor Franz Josef Radermacher from Ulm University at the award ceremony in Düsseldorf, Germany, where CFO Oliver Wittmann and Peter Heimerzheim,
director corporate communications, accepted the prize on behalf of Siegwerk’s owners and board.

The award is worth €15,000. Siegwerk is matching this sum and hence donating €30,000 to the “Siegwerk India Foundation,” which runs social projects in the New Delhi region.

In his own speech, WestLB board member Werner Taiber noted: “Many mid-size companies have been active worldwide for years. Siegwerk is an excellent example. These ‘pearls’ of German business do not always reap the public attention they deserve for their performance. This prize is intended to show our commitment to medium-sized businesses.”

Siegwerk was selected from 33 nominations by an independent jury of university professors, business experts and journalists. Along with successful internationalization, corporate social responsibility was an important criteria for the choice. “The award demonstrates that we have handled reorientation of our company well over the past few years,” said Mr. Wittmann, thanking the jury for this recognition. “We are especially
grateful to our staff, without whom we could not have achieved this success.”
